VHS HELL
On November 22, VHS HELL returns to Club B90 with an antidote to the autumn depression - a double screening of films from the lowest shelves of videotape rental shops! On the program: a film about the search for the spear that pierced the side of Christ (except that instead of archaeologists we have kung-fu warriors and time travel), and an Indonesian horror film in which an ancient evil queen possesses the body of a young anthropology student, who then sets out to wreak havoc in a killing spree. The first film will be flown from a VHS tape, and the second with a live voiceover improvising dialogue tracks (guest starring Wojciech Tremiszewski). The whole will be traditionally complemented by a set of commercials from the 1990s scrounged up on old videotapes.
"Hunters from the Future," dir. by Cirio H. Santiago, Philippines/USA, 1986, 96 min.
(Screening from VHS tape)
Infamous Filipino director Cirio Santiago presents a dripping with absurdity variation on the theme of post-apocalyptic cinema. In 2025, humanity is on the brink of extinction and the planet is covered by a desert. All due to a catastrophe that occurred in the 1980s. It turns out that the nuclear Holocaust could have been avoided. All you have to do is go back in time and find ... the spear with which a Roman soldier pierced the side of Christ! Get ready for a crazy combination of kung fu, "Rambo," "Finders of the Lost Ark," small budget, stolen ideas and despicable acting. In one of the leading roles Robert Patrick, better known as T1000 from "Terminator 2"!
"Lady Terminator" (aka "Pembalasan ratu pantai selatan"), dir. by H. Tjut Djalil, Indonesia, 1989, 82 min.
(Screening with live voiceover improvising dialogues)
An anthropology student becomes possessed by the spirit of an ancient queen. Famous for its cruelty and gigantic libido, the demon sets out to wreak death and destruction on the city. Neither Terminator, let alone Lady. This film is nothing more than a gross fake of Western blockbusters with a touch of Asian folklore. Black magic, gore, masses of action and scenes you've already seen somewhere. A gem of B-grade cinema that's a shame not to know.
Screening with live voiceover improvising dialogues - this role will be played by Wojciech Tremiszewski, known from Limo cabaret.
